Welcome Fellow Socialists/Americans
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog !! I just wanted to say a quick hello and give you an idea of what I am trying to do here. Today in the United States, we are bombarded by issues on almost an hourly basis. News, Blogs, Internet and all the opinionated people we know and love. This is a spot to come and voice your opinions on how you feel and understand the world to be. There are no wrong thoughts or opinions, just having them makes a step above the average cut. You see the fact is, most Americans have no voice, no opinion and are quite content living their lives in the shadows. The time for sitting on the sidelines is over, everyone needs to jump in the game. Take the time to actually see what is going on around you and take action.
Subjects we will start discussing will be the governments move towards Socialism from Capitalism ( No we really aren’t a true Democracy anymore in my humble opinion ). How do you feel about Socialism in its new form ? Do you understand what it means both now and for the countries future ? Do you understand that bailing out the companies with your tax dollars in an effort to stabilize the economy was a decision made by some of the same people that screwed it up in the first place ? Is it Taxation without representation ? Do we really need to be saving automobile manufacturers that make outdated combustion engines at outrages prices and cannot sell them ?
These are just a few of the hard hitting subjects we will discuss. In my opinion a Socialist/Democratic Government can work, but not without the people standing up for themselves when we are obviously being trampled on by corporations from the days of Capitalism scraping from the pits they have dug at our last few pennies we saved to survive ourselves. I feel the bail out is a waste of our time and money, it gives the government a controlling interest in businesses it shouldn’t be involved in. Do we want government agencies managing money and manufacturing when they cant even get a health care system in place or fix an antiquated welfare system where its better to not work then it is to provide for yourself and family ? I think not. Forget about the banks, auto manufacturers and their woes and cries for more money. They made their bed, they can lie in it, and without a blanket of mine and yours hard earned money.
Lets here your thoughts. And I being the diplomatic mediator that I am ( Yeah Right ) will stir the pot.

welcome to today.com, I look forward to some good conversation/debate with you! Feel free to stop over at my blog anytime. Cheers
I’ll hop on this welcome wagon, too.
If democratic socialism was implemented the way Bernie Sanders advocates, we’d be doing just fine. The problem, in my opinion, are the blind devotees of Ayn Rand. That, and the people involved in government that believe government has no place in our lives.
Government does have a place in our lives, I will grant you that one….The issue still remains however, how much ? Isnt it about time we the people start to let them know when to be involved and when to stop ? Like I stated in my earlier questions, do we deserve to suffer for the inadequacies of CEO’s that hoard the profits and make poor choices ? How is it that we bail out a company that made those choices while we do not get the option for our friends and neighbors losing their businesses, homes and rights given to us by the founding fathers ? Governmnet does have its place and its about time we tell them what that is !!!!! Companies have a responsibility to their shareholders ( Of which I am not ), Government in any form has a right and a duty to its citizens ( Of which I am ).
Nationalizing the financial and auto industries IS socialism. Capitalism would be letting the markets take care of the issue on their own and letting the systems fail. Do you know what socialism is? You are contradicting yourself.
The government is not there to give us things. The sole purpose of the government is to provide infrastructure and our national defense. The government was created by our founding fathers to be small and for the states to have the power.
If I work hard for my money, why should I have to pay extra taxes to pay for someone who doesn’t want to work?
Health care is a service, not a right!!!! If you find this in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, let me know.
The government is the problem, not the answer! There is not one program that works well. Look at the DMV! You think that the government will give us great health service? When the government is given the power over our healthcare, they will be able to decide what amount of care we are given. Because it would be paid by taxpayer money, they could easily decide that your issue isn’t worth using the taxpayer money for. They can pick and choose what they will cover for us. I don’t want the government to decide for me! Believe me, ask anyone who lives or lived in a county where there is national health care and they will tell you that their care is sub standard.
I never said we where a capitalistic government anymore, if you read what I said it states we are transitioning from that to socialism, I agree that them bailing out the banks and the auto industry is socialism….thats what my comment states. I never once stated I agreed with that either !!! Also in addition to your health care comment, I didnt state I wanted the government to manage my healthcare either….if you are going to comment, know what you read and what you are talking about. Free healthcare in the united states would consist of free healthcare for all but does not mean you cannot have and use insurance for additional/better care. Try having a disease you cannot afford to care for and a government that doesnt care to assist you !!! If you dont and havent then you cannot speak about good healthcare and choices. If you are fortunate enough to have the ability to afford good care, then you can count yourself among the few. Corporations made the choices they made and are suffering for it now….my point was we shouldnt flip the bill, we are taxed enough as it is, for poor military support, base closures that make us weak as a nation and poor infrastructure. The government has a responsibility to its people not its lobbyists or campaign funders. Socialism in this manner will not work in the united states if the people speak up. I never contradicted myself either, I stated we are moving from a capitalistsic government to a socialist one. If you read you would see that. As for the founding fathers giving the power to the states you are also wrong, the founders needed the states to contribute money, goods, men and votes to support the union in its succession from the ruling of a king and his countries best interests, not that of the colonists. The civil war was over the right for states to govern themselves and in my humble opinion is how it should be, however this was not the founders intentions by their own actions in the revolutionary war. As far as small government goes, yes i agree that was the intention to keep the united states from going from a tyrant king to a tyranical government with too much control ( hmmm thats where we are now ). As far as paying into the infrastructure i.e welfare….I also do not wish to do that, take those on welfare ( the ones that can ) and put them to work. Cleaning streets, building parks or send them to job training in order to get that check. In the beggining I even stated we have an antiquated welfare system. It is disgusting that people can sit at home on their rearends and collect my hard earned money, I wont stand for it and neither should you. I appreciate your comments and your input, but think before you speak but always speak. Thanks
I think we should all become communists, then we wouldnt have too worry about it……….just kidding……..all i want is conceal carry laws in Illinois, it would make me alot happier.
I agree about finding a way to put people on welfare to work. What’s happened to this country since the 30’s? Think about it. During the Depression, people without jobs didn’t want handouts, they wanted to do their part; earn their keep. Now we’re a nation of people satisfied sitting around watching tv and playing online roleplaying games with “friends” instead of going outside into the world and living our lives with real people who we can call friends.
Welcome to Today, by the way.
Jen
Couldnt have said it better myself Jen, and thanks for the welcome. Like I always say ” It Doesnt matter if I agree with what you say, just as long as you say it “
Democracy is over and Socialism is here? Great! Give me your fucking money. All of it. Right now! I promise to waste it in ways that will greatly offend you.
The above comments by Jason are part of the downside of American knowledge and input into how our country is run. Although I applaud his energy…..The comment about “Great! Give me your fucking money. All of it. Right now! I promise to waste it in ways that will greatly offend you” Shows that some dont really understand how realistic these challenges are and how detrimental it is that he doesnt understand, they already do that wether its Democracy, Capatalism or Socialism in America….Our fearless leaders have been doing this for ages. Bring back the anti governemt movements of the 60’s. Change can happen my friends, but it has to start with us !!!!
Oh believe me, I understand more than my sarcasm lets on. I don’t believe in isms. Pure capitalism is just as bad as pure socialism. We need to find just the right hybrid that screws over the least amount of people.
Absolutely agree with Jason. And I see in in the awaken China, a model of capitalist and socialist. The economic given to corporations, but the direction of it and the nation is in the hand of the government.
The good thing about this system is that, capitalism provide efficiency for an economy, while socialism in the hand of the government strengthen the consistency of cultural tradition. Just recently, the Chinese government declare the war on internet porn, which against the conservative tradition of this long-history culture. If the market is free, this industry will boom due to its enormous profit, like the Japanese sex production.
I understand in what Jason say, and that is what I really dream of.
(few more years, I will come to China to study there system and culture, yay!)
socialism has been tried in several countries, and while it has worked in a few, in most places, it doesn’t and people who have fled those countries have pretty horrible tales to tell. while we are going through a horrible devastation, I don’t think that the majority of people in the US want socialism.
There may be a huge war coming due to the constitutional crisis that is happening also, so, who knows what the final result will be?
People are stocking up on guns and rations and preparing for a civil War.
Civil War is inevitable…every country has a cycle of about 300 years or so…give or take. Although civil war is a painful time to go through, it is inevitable and needed. Socialism in my mind is not the answer…I merely point out that is where we are headed…the time to speak is now, The only true freedom we have in this country is our voice..make it heard, tell your friends, family and neighbors to speak out against the things our government is doing. They are there to represent us…we do not support what they are doing, therefore we need to end it. Every American should be enraged right now with fuel prices being what they are, what a joke….there is no way for the government to explain this one away…..bad choices killed the economy and low and behold fuel goes down, we finally tell OPEC to bite us only after the world economy takes a crap because of corporate mistakes in america. This should enrage everyone that they dictate where the market goes to pull themselves out of what they created, it disgusts me that we allow this. Now they bail out the big three, why because they make gas guzzling vehicles that no one, i repeat no one needs to own or drive ???? And we flip the tab…..thats a bunch of garbage. What will it be tomorrow ??? Insurance companies ? Or will Bin Laden get caught before George leaves office ? Mark my word…he will be declared dead or caught. Worst rating of any US president ever !!!!!! Stop the bleeding Americans
